Very cool article:
Science has determined that your brain synapses shrink during the course of sleep, and that’s good for you. Here’s what a synapse looks like:
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/sleep-shrinks-the-brain-rsquo-s-synapses-to-make-room-for-new-learning/
Synapses are essentially the end of your nerves, the spot from which chemical messages are sent and received. With the nerve itself as an extension cord, the synapse is kind of like the plug.
This gist of this article is that, as we sleep, our brain ” unplugs,” scanning all information processed that day and erasing any junk, spam etc. This is similar to a cleaner app you might use on your phone or computer.
So sleep, or you’ll have shit for brains.
